Playing with Gesso

Here is another card that I have created where gesso background is the main focal point. I love when I get idea and I can just run with it.

There are days where I need to create a card for an event and I can't just come up with any ideas. Thank god for pinterest. :)

So here the card:
I have used Spellbinders romantic rectangles to create the base of the card and the layer.

This card is one of the fastest ones I have ever done.

To create the image I have gessoed ( not sure if that's a word :) ) the rectangle and waited for it to dry. I didn't want to use my heat gun because it would change the properties of gesso a little bit.
I have used my inktense pencils to add color and tons of water to move the color around then used paper towels to wipe it off and create honey comb effect.

Stamped and embossed the flowers and flourishes with Just Rite stamps.

Added my viva pearls.
I love those.
And it's Done.

Spring Colors

I normally try to have at least 1 project done a day. Sometimes it ends up being two and some days I just don't feel like it.

Well, yesterday was one of the days that I wanted to try something new.

I haven't played with Gesso on the card stock before but I watched a youtube video where the author created background with gesso and it was so awesome. Being inspired by the challenge and new way to play with my craft I decided to create this card. By the way here is the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT2Qu_z8k2M

It was fairly easy to do.
The smaller of romantic rectangular is covered with gesso. I was waiting till its dry and then used inktense pencils to add color.
Gesso adds nice resistance that paper doesn't go all wavy.
It becomes almost glossy like paper but with pattern of your choice.
Stamped and embossed the flowers from JustRite. I have used the same stamp in the background.
Cheery Lynn butterflies and ribbon & viva pearls.

And it's all done.

I really liked the gesso technique. I will try to add alcohol inks to it.
Gelatos would be perfect on this as well... I can't wait to get those.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

Just Rite Challenge

I had some time. I really have a lot of bdays coming up. So here is simple card. JustRite background stamps make it soooo easy to create a beautiful cards in no time.

I have embossed the background and then colored it with Inktense pencils + I have added perfect pearls to water so it made the card shimmery... Love it :)

I have used Verve sentiment for the bday. The background was cut out with my gazzele ( i love my lil gazzy she can do so much)

JustRite Challenge Spring

I seem to be creating a lot for this challenge. I am in the Springy mood :)

This card was put together from of all the little left overs from other projects and scraps on my desk. Yes, I was attempting to clean my craft space.... The moment I get it all tidy and neat looking I want to create something from all the little things that I found that I haven't used yet.

So here is the card:

I have used the M Bossabilites for the background. For the script I have used the Hero Arts digi stamp.
I am surprised that JustRite don't have their version of the script stamp. I find I used it in a lot of project...

I have lightly stamped the script with the Just Rite background stamp to add more interest. For the flourishes I have used SVG file that I found online.

JustRite Spring Challenge Second Version

I have stumbled upon Cherry Lynn Dies. They are so Awesome!!! They cut perfectly and I couldn't wait to use one of the doilies.

Here is what I came up with:

I really wanted to make sure that doily is the centre of the attention I made my greeting on vellum.
I have used Martha Stewart punch for the borders. When I think of spring I always think of poka dots. So I have my green flourish and used my fav Viva Pearl Pen.

Here is the close up of the greeting and the doily.

So many Stamps!! So little Time.

Yesterday, I was cleaning up and organizing my storage space and I didn't realize I have THAT many stamps & die cuts.

I am not surprised that I do have that many because I am in love with JUSTRITE products and they match perfectly with Spellbinders. I think 65% of my stamps are JUSTRITE stamps.

Some of them I have barely got to use, if at all yet. So I have decided to start My Stamp Series.
This is simply to make sure that I will get to use every single stamp I have.

Realisticly, I am thinking that probably won't be able to get through ALL the stamps but at least through the majority of it. Yes my collection is huge! ( well for me at least).

JustRite Spring Challenge

Yeeey!!! The Spring is here. It's getting warmer. I have tons of bdays coming up this month so I am making a lot of birthday cards.

For this card I wanted to try a new way to create roses. I found YouTube Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSGQapkB-DQ. Simple but oh so pretty!!! I think this one come out even prettier then spellbinders bitty blossoms. I probably need to play with those more :)
But here is the card:

Here is the close up of the flowers. I didn't have Want 2 Scrap so I have used Viva Pearl Pen to create pearl effects :)

I love to know what you think.

Butterflies Left Overs

First, THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate all the comments.

I had few supplies lets from my previous card. I am trying to make sure that I don't store those little pieces. I really don't like to throw away little bits and pieces. But then it accumulates into piles and bags of scrap paper and stamped images….. and then I forget about them.
So I’ve decided to try to use up as much as possible without storing it. Trying is the key word here. ( I am still trying to figure out how I can use all the red bits from x-mass. And I really Don’t want to do another x-mass card.)
So this is left overs…
The butterfly and the script is from Hero Art digital stamps. I coloured butterflies using watercolour & inktense pencils. I’ve added perfect pearls to water and this created simmer effect.

The flowers & circle is from spellbinders. I have used M- bossabilities for the background image. I used one of free SVG files to cut out flourishes.  And it’s Done! What do you think?

Happy Birthday -Make it Pop Green Style

St. Patrick day is coming up and spring almost around the corner. This inspired me to make a green style card.

Here is what I used for the flower I have used Botanical Medallions & Banners. I stamped it 3 times and colour them with water color pencils. I don’t have copic markers yet. The key work is yet. At some point I am sure I will start my collection but in the mean time my water colour pencils and inktense pencils do the job.  For the frame I used from the set of Cast AllYour Cares. I have used spellbinder to cut it out. For the sentiments I have used Grand Sentiments, just created little tags. I used background stamp Floral Flourishes.

For the edges I have used spellbinders Romantic Rectangles, cut them in half and here is my frame.

Roses Fast Card

This card I made really fast for my friend. The reason this card was suppose to be done really fast because it was last minute card.

I have used a few spellbinders. For the flowers I used Floral Tags (couldn't find the link for those). Looking at it now, I think I should've used different color flowers. For the sentiment I have used Fancy Tags two. For the background I used Romantic Rectangles. I love my butterflies. I have used Martha Steward to punch those out. I have layered one of top of another. A lot of times I would use darker color on the bottom butterfly to create a shadow effect. I have embossed the background and rounded the corners.

JustRite Friday Challenge #92- Make it Pop

Here is my card creation.

I was trying to be original so for the frames I have used Noel Christmas Ornaments. I know the holiday season is over but this set has so many pretty elements that decided to use it. The flower leaves were made out of the same set.
I have embossed background stamp Floral Flourishes Background Stamp. It didn't show up as nicely as I anticipated. I probably need a finer clear embossing power to show off all the pretty details of the stamp.
For sentiment is used out of the Spring Words set.

The rose were cut using spellbinders.

Let me know what you think.

Star Burst Medalion

This card is not my original idea I have copied from one of the Just Rite designers.

I used the star burst medation stamp. I have added the sentiment Large FancySentiments from  Just Rite  and embossed different  background. I have used cuttlebug folder. ( I don't remember the name). I love Just Rite large Fancy set. It has everything I need for the year!!

Here is the original card: http://murdocks.typepad.com/polishedtoperfection/2012/01/introducing-starburst-medallion-labels.html

Sweet Friend Card

I have decided to create an unusual card for my friend.
Here is the outside of the card.

For the side & butterflies I have use Marth Stewart punches. The lace that you see I have bought it on ebay. Used Cherry Lynn Designs die for florishes,  Spellbinder for flowers & oval and JustRite Stamps for the sentiment. I used Viva paper pen to decorate the card and swirls.  I love Viva products I find their pens helps to make perfect pearls or drops without looking like a hershey kiss :)

For the inside of the card, I decided to do something crazy. I decided to make it a pop up card. My friend likes windmills. So here it is. I used the same florishes and butterflies from the front of the card to match the inside.

Looks complicated but it really isnt. I used amazing pop template to create this. I have colored the first layer card to add more color dimentions.

Let me know what you think.

Introduction

Hello,
My name is Stacy. I love Art, specially card making.

I got into card making when my friend was getting married and we were pricing the cost of  wedding invitations. After finding out how expensive those are, my thought was: “We could probably make it ourselves”.

From that point forward, I was addicted to cardmaking. :)

I started my collection of stamps, dies and machines for cardmaking. I am now proud owner of Bosskut Gazelle ( Love it!!), Cricut Mini ( don’t love it as much), Cuttlebug ( my first purchase) and Fiskars Fuse ( love that baby).

I also studied visual arts in school ( it was some time ago) but I am finding that I always want to do bigger projects that take more time then I have and some ( ok who I am kidding -- most) of the projects get unfinished.

I found cardmaking provides me the outlet for creativity without feeling like I need to do a huge productions. Mind you, for some of the cards planning and designing sometimes take days.

So here I am, starting a blog. Never in a million years did I think I will be writing a blog.

I want to share what creations I come up with.
The reason for the name on the blog is attibuted to my co worker. She asked me to do simple scrapbook desing for her and her words were: " SIMPLE, Not Stacy Style, with crazy flowers and layers."

Hence the name: Stacy Craft Style :)
